Wendy Shearer Fund (WSF)

For help in accessing professional Counselling Services.

Mental Health is constituent to our spiritual wellbeing. The mental wellness of our neighbours contributes to the spiritual wellbeing of the whole community.

In times of stress and crisis, many of us benefit from the services of a professional counsellor. However, professional counselling tends to be very expensive, prohibiting many from receiving the support they need. The Wendy Shearer Fund is intended to make counselling accessible to those who may otherwise forgo professional counselling when they need it.

You do not need to be a member or adherent of Trinity United Church to access this fund. We will prioritize residents of the TriCity Area (Anmore, Belcarra, Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Port Coquitlam).

The Wendy Shearer Fund will provide up to eight (8) counselling sessions for an individual in need. We will assume that other forms of support (work and provincial health benefits) have already been accessed. After 8 sessions have been completed, the applicant is welcome to re-apply for further financial assistance, knowing they may need to wait till the next calendar year for additional assistance.

Applicants are asked to select their own counsellor and give them permission to bill Trinity United Church (C/O Rev David Cathcart revcathcart@gmail.com ) directly and we will release the funds according to their preference (direct deposit, cheque, e-transfer).

Please contact Rev David revcathcart@gmail.com if you have any questions.
