Lenten Devotional - Day 26

Day 26 (Sunday)  

Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honour. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord.

For Paul, love is not a warm fuzzy feeling, it is a commitment to how we treat one another, whether we feel warmly towards one another or not. What/who do you love, genuinely?
What does it mean to let love be genuine?
“…outdo one another in showing honour,” is not a competition. Rather, it is a call to deeper empathy and compassion.  When has someone “outdone” you in compassion? 
When have you had empathy for someone when they didn’t “deserve” your empathy? When have you served the Lord?
