Earthquake in Turkey and Syria: On Monday, February 6, a massive magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit southern Turkey and neighbouring Syria. The United Church of Canada is deeply concerned for all those affected, particularly the thousands who have lost their homes and their loved ones. We are accepting donations to help people impacted by the earthquake in Turkey and Northern Syria. CLICK HERE.
The Alali/Sata family have requested, in lieu of a celebration to mark their recent Canadian citizenship, that donations be made to the Emergency Fund. CLICK HERE
In the face of destruction
that tears down homes and threatens life,
we pray that your deep abiding love
be felt by:
those who are grieving,
those who fear for themselves and their communities,
those who are struggling; and,
those who are offering aid.
May they continue to be strengthened by your Spirit.
May we extend our hearts in prayer.
Email Scam/Phishing Alert: One of our members has informed us of another email scam going around that impersonates Rev David, United Church ministers, and church members. The email asks people to buy gift cards, using convincing emails and names (pulled from the internet!). The United Church of Canada and Rev David Cathcart will never ask for secrecy or help in this manner. Never respond to these emails, just flag them as SPAM and delete them. Call the Regional office or our church office if you have concerns. Please be wary!
Thrift Number this week: A jaw-dropping $598.95. Not bad for a Wednesday in February...
