Trinity's music ministry is changing: After much discernment, conversation and prayer, Worship + Music and the Choir, in conversation with Maestro David and Rev David, have decided it is time to let go of weekly anthems. It is our hope that we might manage occasional "special music" like we have during the summers. If you have a musical gift we might not be aware of, and would like to offer your music in worship, please let the office know. Zoe will start compiling a list of people who might have a musical offering. In the meantime, there is a new hymnal on the horizon for the United Church to celebrate 100 years since Union in 2025. In fall of 2025 (now Jan 2025), a physical hymnal will be published, but before then  we will have digital access to about 150 new hymns. On Thursday evenings, we would like the choir (and anyone else who is interested) to continue to meet to learn some new hymns to strengthen our congregational singing. So 7 pm to 8:30 pm we will have HymnSing Thursdays for anyone who would like to join us, starting Thursday, September 12, 2025.

Fellowship of the Least Coin: Let us keep each other in our prayers. Let us remember our siblings around the world under the heavy yoke of violence and wars, calamities, and isolation. From where we are, we can only pray to God and do what we can to help. And to remember to set aside our least coin offerings after each prayer.  This is us - the Fellowship of the Least Coin. CLICK HERE for their 2024 Report.

DOER's Meeting (updated): The first Doer's meeting of the season! We have decided to push it a little farther out so more people can attend, so it will now be on Monday, Sept 16 at 6:30 pm. Ice cream will be scooped!

Legacy Fund: The need is great, but our gratitude and generosity are greater. Trinity United Church is celebrating 120 years of ministry in Port Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities Area. We are planning for the next 120 years by establishing a Legacy Fund that invites members, adherents, friends, and neighbours to include Trinity in their estate planning. CLICK HERE to read more details, or pick up a leaflet on Sunday at the Church. DOWNLOAD the brochure.

UCC Moderator News: Moderator Carmen Lansdowne urges us to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, on September 30. This is a day to reflect, pray, learn, and to honour survivors, their families, and the communities affected by Indian Residential Schools and those who operated them. For non-Indigenous Christians in particular, this is a time to reflect on their role in colonialism and the ongoing responsibility to make reparations. CLICK HERE to watch her video message.

The Vancouver School of Theology (VST) has a special request: If you have a property to rent, either a room or a house, we would love to hear from you. You could provide incoming students with a soft landing and supportive community during their academic journey. VST has built an online Housing Group for out of town students, we will post your housing information to our group. Interested? Contact Astrid Melatunan: 604-771-9207 or vststudentbuddy@vst.edu. Your generosity in opening your homes can truly make a positive difference in the lives of these students.
