Gathering
WE WILL NOT LIVESTREAM THIS SERVICE. It is our Annual Congregational Financial meeting, it will be recorded, but not made public.
Welcome
Rev David: May the peace of Christ be with you.
Welcome to Trinity United Church in Port Coquitlam, BC.
We are so grateful that you have chosen to spend some time with us, we are glad you are here.
Acknowledgement of Territory
For tens of thousands of years, the lands on which we live, work and worship, have been occupied by indigenous peoples.
Much of what we know as the Northwest Coast of North America was occupied by the Coast Salish Peoples. The territory where Trinity United Church of Port Coquitlam resides is the unceded territory of the Kwikwetlem First Nations. Our acknowledgement of unceded traditional territory is a first step in reconciliation between settler cultures and indigenous peoples and the decolonization of western systems that continue to oppress and exploit indigenous peoples and land. The work of reconciliation is daunting. The work of reconciliation will not be ours to complete, but neither is it ours to abandon.
Let us prepare our hearts and minds for worship.

Call to Worship
Grace to you and peace from the one who is
and who was and who is to come,
and from Jesus Christ , the faithful witness,
the first born of the dead, and the ruler of the
kings of the earth.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.
The whole earth is full of God’s glory.*

Prayer of Approach
Sovereign God,
come to us now in silent, holy power.
Still our distracted minds, our bruised hearts,
our longing bodies.
Then speak the power of Jesus’ name
in such a way that we might hear it,
in such a way that we might bear it into the world –
as a people who seek not to preserve what we know
but to make palpable who you are –
for we move and pray by the gift of your breath
within us. Amen.*

Prayers of Thanksgiving and intercession
We pray,
“Bring it on, Lord Jesus, bring it on!”
Lord Jesus, you said to your disciples as they admired the work of human hands and human institutions that not one stone would be left standing one upon the other.
The Kingdom of God would be heralded by wars and rumours of wars, earthquakes and false prophets; and that these signs would be the birth pangs of a new creation.
When those of us of power and affluence look to our institutions and pat ourselves on the back for a job well done, we call on you to bring your Reign upon us. Transform our living, our thinking and our being to reveal the Reign of God, and not just our own ambitions and expectations.
Bring it on, Lord Jesus, bring it on.
In a world of injustice and inequality, where the vulnerable are stepped on by the powerful and the poor exploited by the rich, we pray...
Bring it on, Lord Jesus, bring it on.
In a world where the planet itself has become victim to our consumptive lifestyles, where our convenience is more important that the sustainability of ecosystems that took billions of years to evolve, we pray...
Bring it on Lord Jesus, bring it on.
In a world where millions of children live without shelter, enough to eat, or access to educational or health services, and others unconsciously use more than their share of your worlds great abundance, we pray...
Bring it on, Lord Jesus, bring it on.
In a world where people who are different from the expected norm are mocked, pushed aside ostracized and persecuted; in a world where people with different values, different customs, different backgrounds and different traditions cannot get along peacefully; in a world where our differences threaten to destroy us instead of being the great diversity that makes us adaptable to the future, we pray…
Bring it on, Lord Jesus, bring it on.
To a world that is full of pain and suffering, hope and joy, intolerance and grace, promise and anxiety, loneliness and comfort, abundance and grief, we pray…
Bring it on, Lord Jesus, bring it on.
Bring on your Reign, from everlasting to everlasting, enter every heart that justice can flow like a river for all created beings, and peace can be a rock and firm foundation and joy can be sung from the lips of everyone born. We pray…
Bring it on, Lord Jesus, bring it on.
