Upcoming Worship Dates: Make sure you plan to attend the second Town Hall meeting with Development Steering - Sunday, February 26th after the worship time. We are excited to announce a lunch will be served between the service and the meeting! Soup and buns and coffee! Truth and Reconciliation News: The Tseshaht First Nation is preparing to publicly release the Phase 1 findings from research and ground penetrating scanning at the site of the former Alberni Indian Residential School (AIRS) on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 1 pm. Following the leadership and guidance of the UCC Indigenous Ministries and Justice Unit, Tuesday will be a day of holding space to allow all of us across Canada to hear from the Tseshaht First Nation and other communities that have been directly impacted by the Alberni Indian Residential School first. Rev David suggests that perhaps we can take this opportunity to wear our orange shirts.
Ash Wednesday Service at Trinity: Lent begins this week! Let's start off this special season of contemplation with a simple Ash Wednesday service here at the Church. Wednesday, February 22nd at 7 pm in the Sanctuary.
Worship and Music Notes: The Team met on February 8 and the following were discussed -
1. Planning for Easter Services is underway.
2. We will be continuing with monthly Hymn Sings before the service on the first Sunday on the month until the Fall, and then review. It is at 10:10 am so it means being in church a little earlier that Sunday. Please come and support the choir and enjoy some singing.
3. We are still very much in need of people to operate the slides on Sunday mornings. At the moment we have 3 - 4 people who help us out but we would love to have 2 - 3 more. We are also in need of soundboard operators. If you would like to know more about what these roles entail please contact any member of the W&M Team. Card-making Workship: The Sarah Unit invites you to a fun and creative card-making workshop. Saturday April 1st from 1 - 3 pm in the Church Hall. Each person will be guided through completing five beautiful cards. Pat Bradley or Syd Sawyer will be in the Hall after service to answer questions or take your registration. Cost of registration is $25.00. CLICK HERE.
World Day of Prayer at Trinity: CLICK HERE We will celebrate this Canada-wide service together in the Sanctuary on Friday, March 3rd @ 2 pm. Then, stay for an afternoon tea after worship in the Fellowship Hall.
Games Night March 18: Back again, the annual TUMS Games Night, Sat, March 18. Bring your friends for a night of fun playing the 'Sequence' board game.
Tuesdays @ 2211: is again meeting in person on (you guessed it) Tuesdays at 6:00 pm, in the Church library/narthex. The first meeting will be March 7 and will be a Bring Your Own Dinner event. We will discuss the same book that our Prayer/Study Group is currently studying, "Building God's Beloved Community - Discipleship in the United Church of Canada". Earthquake in Turkey and Syria: Our celebration for the Sata/Alali’s recent Canadian citizenship was postponed due to the earthquake emergency happening in their homeland of Syria. Majdalin Sata and son Zien Alali attended Feb 12 worship service receiving much needed hugs and love from Trinity. Many thank-you's to the generosity of Trinity Congregation for the money personally given on Sunday. The combined amount collected during our coffee time was over $500. Thank you. We will have the Sata/Alali’s and their family in our prayers. Also, we are reminded that going forward, Trinity will send all donations directed to the Emergency Global Response through the Mission and Service Fund. Label the envelope to indicate your wishes “Syria/Turkey Earthquake” or CLICK HERE to donate online.
