Port Coquitlam Volunteer of the Year Awards News: Last Thursday, Rev. David and Jo-Ann Dahms attended the Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Event at the new Rec Centre in Poco. Dave Squires had also been nominated for a Lifetime Volunteer award by United Seniors Housing Society. There was a very long list of nominees and only three awards to be given out. Trinity did not win, nor did Dave. However, we all felt like winners when we left, such were the wonderful tributes given to all the volunteers.

Here is SHARE's nomination of Rev David: SHARE Family & Community Services Society (SHARE) nominates Trinity United Church (represented by Minister David Cathcart) for the City's "Volunteer of the Year" award under the "Caring and Safety" category. Trinity United Church volunteers put in thousands of hours each year operating a Thrift shop, and supporting the work of SHARE, Progressive Housing Society, the Community Kitchen, Fraser Health Authority, BC Housing and the work of the Tricity Homelessness and Housing Task Force. The volunteers of Trinity United Church make the community of Port Coquitlam more welcoming, safer and more inclusive. The support provided to our most vulnerable community members, particularly those living in poverty and/or experiencing homelessness, by the volunteers of Trinity United Church is invaluable. They continually open their space to community organizations and groups, ensuring access to critical services. They are a greatly valued community partner whose selfless commitment is appreciated deeply by their partners.
