Lenten Series - Bible Study 101:  Tuesdays, at 6 pm. You are invited to join Tues@2211 for our Lenten Series: Bible Study 101. During Lent we will be doing a beginner bible study.
If you have never read the Bible before, this is for you.
If you have tried reading the Bible and just don't get it, this is for you.
If you are just curious about deepening your relationship to the Bible, this is for you.
All materials will be made available on our website ucpoco.ca. Sessions will build on each other, so if you miss an evening you are encouraged to read the materials. We will be using Spark Story Bible and any other English translation you would like to use, though we tend to use the NRSV (we will learn why). Usually, we finish by 8 pm.

Card-making Workshop: Judy Cartwight will be returning to host another card-making class Saturday, March 28th from 1 - 4 pm. Registration fee is $50 with all proceeds going to the Displaced Persons Fund. Only four (4) spots left!

  • UCW AGM "Bloom Where You are Planted": Pacific Mountain United Church Women will host their Annual General Meeting and Gathering on Tuesday, April 28 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Golden Ears United Church, 22165 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Maple Ridge.

UCC Lent with the Moderator: Kitchen Conversations with the Moderator, a new six-part video series continues through Lent, exploring food, faith, and the power of invitation, hosted by the Right Rev. Dr. Kimberly Heath. CLICK HERE for the latest video. Drawing inspiration and recipes from the United Church’s Lenten devotional, Bless Break Share: Recipes for Faithful Living, we’re getting in the kitchen with guests from across the church. They remind us that around a table, barriers fall and stories flow, that God meets us in ordinary moments of sharing bread and conversation.

Broadview Article: "United Church has ‘grave concerns’ about Iran airstrikes, criticizes Carney’s stance. Other faith groups have a variety of takes on war in the Middle East."  CLICK HERE to read.

Return-It Recycling: We have registered Trinity as a charity with Return-It! You can no longer use the church phone number, but when you return your empties, you can ask to donate the money to "Trinity United Church Port Coquitlam" instead of receiving cash. CLICK HERE.

Healing Pathways: The Tri-Cities Healing Pathway ministry offer in-person healing sessions at Inlet United on Monday afternoons. Sessions can be booked for 1:15 PM or 2:00 PM. That time on the 4th Monday of each month, however, is set aside for a gathering of practitioners. To book a session contact 604-939-5513 or email healingpathway@inletunited.ca.

PMRC Prayers: In our own Pacific Mountain Region of the United Church of Canada, we pray for St. Andrew’s-Wesley UC (Vancouver), St. Columba SM (Port Hardy), St. David’s by the Lake (Celista), St. David’s UC (West Vancouver), St. George’s UC (Courtenay), and St. John-Gaulbert SM (Port McNeill.)

Prayers of the People: Mar 8 - 14, 2026
In the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle of the World Council of Churches this week, we pray for Ireland; United Kingdom: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. We pray for dealing with the challenges of increasing secularism and the emergence of new ways of expressing religion and spirituality. 6:30 pm      Coffee Cakes and Fruit Platter with Tea and Decaffeinated Coffee
6:50pm
Opening: Peggy Horvath welcomed 20 attendees

Opening worship: Rev. David reading from Principal of Vancouver School of Theology Richard Topping

Governance Report: Judy Johnson reported that the governance will meet on Jan 27.

Housekeeping:
•    Peggy reported that the Fire Prevention/Safety meet up with John happened on Saturday January 24 at 10am-12am. Sam will look at what is involved with mounting smoke detectors. New Fire extinguishers need to be mounted. Sprinkler heads need attention
•    No camp Spirit at Trinity this year.
•    Return-it: I asked if any one is using the new method with our own account synced with Trinity’s account. Not much interest shown here. Peggy and I will continue supporting anyone who would like to take advantage of this easy system at any Return-it station in the lower mainland.
•    Syd (me) reported that the mice and ants are still with us. Peggy and Syd have asked James Anderson to be our pest advisor. He has accepted the challenge. Zoe will discontinue the current pest control company on their next visit. James will help us purchase the suggested equipment then we just need to monitor the traps ourselves. He estimates the equipment would be approximately $500. Then no cost to us after this. Just our time checking the traps.  I reminded all to be cognizant of crumbs, food dropped, and counters not cleaned….ants and mice love us for these offerings
•    A leak sprung in the January rains over the door into the freezer room. I remind all to be aware of wet floors, look up in case it means a leak and let Peggy or I know. Wayne has worked on the roof a bit hoping to have solved the problem.

Stewardship: Joy Galea
•    $12,216.00 to Mission and Service. Joy celebrates this and thanks Trinity!
•    Thankyou to Zoe and Josee for creating Trinity Offering Envelopes!

Refugee and Displaced Persons: Debra Peterson
•    Announced the request to raise $ for support towards Baleegh and Noor’s sister in Lebanon who now has a UN number and money for Majda’s family in Lebanon.  Debra is asking for pledges of monthly donations to displaced persons and be directed to refugee and displaced person’s fund at Trinity. Suggesting $10.00/month for a year. Joy adds: These funds are being used now and the money we have already raised $15,000 or so, will be kept and built upon so we can work to apply for refugee support to Noor’s sisters family when the process might begin.

7:35pm:
Dispersed into Interest Groups: UCW, Worship and Music, Property, Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care: Betty McLean (3)
•    Working on a 2026 Directory. Plans to be published this spring
•    Benevolent Fund is healthy
•    Socks and under wear drive finishes on Feb 1. Thank you to all donors
•    Buddy System: 2 sets of buddies have been signed up officially. Judy reminds us that the buddy system works well…just a quick touch-base each day…quick and easy.
•    Let pastoral care and Zoe know if people move
•    Two people baptized on Dec. 7 – one adult Hasheem, one child Jamie.
•    483 sessions of Healing Pathway in 2025
•    A thought that Trinity extend an invitation to worshippers on line to be acknowledged and welcome to reach out through the office to the workings of the church congregation.
•    A stand of acknowledgement to Peggy and I in appreciation of our work in Doer’s name. We blushed.

Property:  Sherie reports 3 met in old paint room
