Announcements

Worship on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at 10:30 am: Sunday's Service will be led by Rev Cathcart. It is also Mother's Day.
As always, we have our YouTube livestream available. CLICK HERE to access it. Once you are on the page, at the time of worship, click on the video that says "live now" and you will see the service.

Trinity United Church AGM: Will take place immediately after worship on Sunday, May 31. We will vote on several important matters so please make the effort to attend. It will not be offered on Zoom or livestream, in person only. The yearly Annual Report will be presented then and will be available for review by Sunday the 24th.

Notice of Motion at Annual General Meeting: At Trinity's upcoming AGM on May 31, 2026, the congregation will be asked to vote on the following motion:
That Trinity United Church - Port Coquitlam apply to become an Affirming Ministry.

DOER's Meeting: Come out and get involved in our wonderful church life some more! Mon, May 11 at 6:30 pm. There will be hot beverages and snacks.

Trinity Car Trunk Sale: Mark your calendars for our next Car Trunk Sale on Sat, June 13 from 9 am to 1 pm. $30 per space. It will run in conjunction with the Port Coquitlam Community Garage Sale so it's sure to be well attended. Start sorting your stuff!

Thrift News: Continuing amazingness, we welcome $910.80 into the coffers. Keep on keeping on!

Displaced Person Fund: People of Trinity, we continue to need your help. We have two families in Trinity's community whose displaced relatives have fled and are fleeing Syria and persecution. Noor's family is in Lebanon where we know the Iran-Israel-US Conflict has created even more difficulties for them, and needs Trinity's support to survive.
We are asking that Trinity members continue to donate above and beyond for these families. This might be as little as $2.50 added to the weekly offering or it could be a one-time offering. We want to support the supporters. Majda and Noor send money to their families every month and we know that this is a drain on them.
You can indicate that the extra money is to go to the Refugee/Displaced Persons Fund so that we may directly send money as they await resettlement, hopefully to Canada.   Just make a note of it in your donation and the monies will go directly to help Noor, Baleegh and Majda's families.  Thank you!

Trinity hosts the Crossroads CoffeeHouse: Make time to come out and enjoy some live music, local performers, a good vibe, and a good cause. Here in our Sanctuary, Friday, May 8 at 7 pm. Since 1998 they have raised over $100,000 so far; the Crossroads Hospice Coffeehouse is a well-established musical fundraiser for Crossroads Hospice Society. All proceeds support the Crossroads Hospice Society.

Marcus Mosley Workshop: Registration is now open for the 2026 Lift Every Voice Workshop at Como Lake United that will take place on Friday, May 8 and Saturday May 9, CLICK HERE for details. Pre-registration required, email office@inletunited.ca.

Choral Connections Spring Concert: "Tribute to Canada" concert will be held on Sunday, May 24 at 2 pm  at Terry Fox Theatre. Tickets will be on sale in the Hall after service - $25 for adults, $20 for under 12’s. Come and enjoy an afternoon of great Canadian music in song. For information see Judy Johnson or Judi Carroll.

Summer Employment Opportunity!
Trinity United Church is looking for someone to act as Office Administrator over the summer period. This is a part-time job, for 20 hours per week. It will run for about ten weeks between mid-June and the end of August 2026. The main tasks involve managing the Church office (for example, answering the phone, checking the mail, creating the Sunday slides). Working closely with the Minister and other church leaders and volunteers, there are a variety of aspects to the job - Administrative, Financial, Worship, Online, and Building Management. This would be a good opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, and who has experience with a variety of computer applications. A detailed Job Description is available by clicking HERE to read the pdf.
Send applications to office@ucpoco.ca. Application deadline is May 15, 2026. Interviews to be arranged May 20 to 26.

Broadview Article: "Alberta’s Christian Leadership Summit puts church-state separation at risk, critics say. Premier Danielle Smith’s planned appearance is drawing scrutiny from progressive faith leaders who see echoes of Christian nationalism."  CLICK HERE to read.
