Announcements

Worship on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 10:30 am: Sunday's Service will be led by our Affirming Team.
As always, we have our YouTube livestream available. CLICK HERE to access it. Once you are on the page, at the time of worship, click on the video that says "live now" and you will see the service.

Muffins will be on sale this Sunday the 17th in the Hall after service. Just a $1 each, buy one to have with coffee or take some home to enjoy later. This may be our last sale until  the Fall, so thank you for your support over the past year. This is a fundraiser by the UCW.

Rev David News: David will be away Sunday, May 17 and 24 on a Study Leave. We will be led in worship by the Affirming Team this Sunday and Rev Lynda Brind-Dickson on the 24th.

Trinity Community Spring Cleanup Work Party:
Date: May 23rd  Time: 9:30-noonish.
Jobs include general housekeeping and weeding. A light snack and drink provided. Bring - a water bottle, light work or garden gloves, window squeegees, and your dandelion weed puller! (Please label your tools.) We look forward to seeing you there!

Pentecost Sunday: On May 24th we will celebrate Pentecost with Rev Lynda. She asks that everyone come dressed to celebrate in the colours of fire: red, or orange, or yellow, or red and orange and yellow!

Trinity United Church AGM: Will take place immediately after worship on Sunday, May 31. We will vote on several important matters so please make the effort to attend. It will not be offered on Zoom or livestream, in person only. The yearly Annual Report will be presented then and will be available for review by Sunday the 24th.

Notice of Motion at Annual General Meeting: At Trinity's upcoming AGM on May 31, 2026, the congregation will be asked to vote on the following motion:
That Trinity United Church - Port Coquitlam apply to become an Affirming Ministry.

Trinity Car Trunk Sale: Mark your calendars for our next Car Trunk Sale on Sat, June 13 from 9 am to 1 pm. $30 per space. It will run in conjunction with the Port Coquitlam Community Garage Sale so it's sure to be well attended. Start sorting your stuff!

Thrift News: $888.50, we love it.

Displaced Person Fund: People of Trinity, we continue to need your help. We have two families in Trinity's community whose displaced relatives have fled and are fleeing Syria and persecution. Noor's family is in Lebanon where we know the Iran-Israel-US conflict has created even more difficulties for them.
We are asking that Trinity members continue to donate above and beyond for these families. This might be as little as $2.50 added to the weekly offering or it could be a one-time offering. We want to support the supporters. Majda and Noor send money to their families every month and we know that this is a drain on them.
You can indicate that the extra money is to go to the Refugee/Displaced Persons Fund. Just make a note of it in your donation.  Thank you!

Choral Connections Spring Concert: "Tribute to Canada" concert will be held on Sunday, May 24 at 2 pm  at Terry Fox Theatre. Tickets will be on sale in the Hall after service - $25 for adults, $20 for under 12’s. Come and enjoy an afternoon of great Canadian music in song. For information see Judy Johnson or Judi Carroll.

UCC Guaranteed Livable Income: Across the country, people are struggling to afford basic necessities. That’s why the United Church of Canada is calling on the federal government to create a Guaranteed Livable Income program. Since 1972, we have been persistently calling for a Guaranteed Livable Income. Today, real progress is being made. Proposals and national legislation are being discussed in Parliament and in some provinces. A Guaranteed Livable Income would help ensure that, regardless of employment status, no one’s income falls below the poverty line. This consistent income floor would reduce poverty, improve health outcomes, and give people the stability they need to thrive. CLICK HERE for the Moderator's video.
You can help make this change happen. We’ve made it easy to contact the Senate Committee who is reviewing Bill S-206 for the creation of a Guaranteed Livable Income program with just a few clicks. Add your voice today, CLICK HERE.

Broadview Article: "‘Show me where the Bible mentions sweetgrass,’ a critic demands. ‘God is bigger than any one expression of Christianity,’ an Indigenous minister responds."  CLICK HERE to read.

Return-It Recycling: We have registered Trinity as a charity with Return-It! You can no longer use the church phone number, but when you return your empties, you can ask to donate the money to "Trinity United Church Port Coquitlam" instead of receiving cash. CLICK HERE.

PMRC Prayers: In our own Pacific Mountain Region of the United Church of Canada, we pray for Winfield UC (Lake Country), Zimbabwe United Methodist Vancouver CP, and Zion UC (Armstrong, Merritt) .

Trinity Prayer Circle: We have a prayer circle to receive and act on your prayer requests. Please refer prayer requests to Linda Lund (778-883-3064/linda.lund60@gmail.com).

Prayers of the People: May 17 - 23, 2026
In the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle of the World Council of Churches this week, we pray for Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal. We pray for those who contribute to religious harmony and advocate for the minority voice of Christians, especially amid religious and ethnic tensions. CLICK HERE to find out more about this part of the world and the ecumenical prayer cycle.
