Trinity United Church AGM: Will take place immediately after worship on Sunday, May 31. We will vote on several important matters so please make the effort to attend. It will not be offered on Zoom or livestream, in person only. The yearly Annual Report will be presented then and will be available for review by Sunday the 24th.

Notice of Motion at Annual General Meeting: At Trinity's upcoming AGM on May 31, 2026, the congregation will be asked to vote on the following motion:
That Trinity United Church - Port Coquitlam apply to become an Affirming Ministry.

Annual Reports 2025-2026: Are available for pick up on Sunday, May 24.

Thank You: to Ann Blue for the gorgeous flower arrangements she has created for our Sanctuary. They are a joy we are all blessed by!

DOER's: Thanks to all who showed up for each other and our church's Doer's Meeting on May 11. Notes from that fun evening are below, scrool down to check them out.

From Pat Bradley: Thank you to everyone who supported my recent fundraiser selling hot cross buns.  I was able to make a donation of $300 to the  Displaced Persons’ Fund.

Trinity Car Trunk Sale: Mark your calendars for our next Car Trunk Sale on Sat, June 13 from 9 am to 1 pm. $30 per space. It will run in conjunction with the Port Coquitlam Community Garage Sale so it's sure to be well attended. Book a spot/table for just $30!

Thrift News: $1085.00, we are taking off!!

Displaced Person Fund: People of Trinity, we continue to need your help. We have two families in Trinity's community whose displaced relatives have fled and are fleeing Syria and persecution. Noor's family is in Lebanon where we know the Iran-Israel-US conflict has created even more difficulties for them.
We are asking that Trinity members continue to donate above and beyond for these families. This might be as little as $2.50 added to the weekly offering or it could be a one-time offering. We want to support the supporters. Majda and Noor send money to their families every month and we know that this is a drain on them.
You can indicate that the extra money is to go to the Refugee/Displaced Persons Fund. Just make a note of it in your donation.  Thank you!

Kapa'a Newsletter: Our sister church in Hawai'i! CLICK HERE.

UCC Guaranteed Livable Income: Across the country, people are struggling to afford basic necessities. That’s why the United Church of Canada is calling on the federal government to create a Guaranteed Livable Income program. Since 1972, we have been persistently calling for a Guaranteed Livable Income. Today, real progress is being made. Proposals and national legislation are being discussed in Parliament and in some provinces. A Guaranteed Livable Income would help ensure that, regardless of employment status, no one’s income falls below the poverty line. This consistent income floor would reduce poverty, improve health outcomes, and give people the stability they need to thrive. CLICK HERE for the Moderator's video.
You can help make this change happen. We’ve made it easy to contact the Senate Committee who is reviewing Bill S-206 for the creation of a Guaranteed Livable Income program with just a few clicks. Add your voice today, CLICK HERE.

Broadview Article: "Broadview went searching through its past. The findings were uncomfortable. A new ebook explores racism, colonialism and Indigenous resistance in Canada’s oldest Christian publication"  CLICK HERE to read.

Return-It Recycling: We have registered Trinity as a charity with Return-It! You can no longer use the church phone number, but when you return your empties, you can ask to donate the money to "Trinity United Church Port Coquitlam" instead of receiving cash. CLICK HERE.

PMRC Prayers: In our own Pacific Mountain Region of the United Church of Canada, this Pentecost Sunday, we give thanks for the presence of the Holy Spirit in our communities and our lives.

Trinity Prayer Circle: We have a prayer circle to receive and act on your prayer requests. Please refer prayer requests to Linda Lund (778-883-3064/linda.lund60@gmail.com).

Prayers of the People: May 24 - 30, 2026
In the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle of the World Council of Churches this week, we pray for  Indian Ocean Islands: Comoros, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, and the Seychelles. We pray for the fragile environment and the unique plants, animals, and lands, that they will be protected, especially as the sea rises. CLICK HERE to find out more about this part of the world and the ecumenical prayer cycle.

Healing Pathways: The Tri-Cities Healing Pathway ministry offer in-person healing sessions at Inlet United on Monday afternoons. Sessions can be booked for 1:15 PM or 2:00 PM. That time on the 4th Monday of each month, however, is set aside for a gathering of practitioners. To book a session contact 604-939-5513 or email healingpathway@inletunited.ca.

Welcome by Peggy with prayer and a land acknowledgement

Governance team update Judy Johnson

  • Annual reports were due last week
  • Stove has been worked on again. A grease box is to be installed
  • There are plans for a library outreach van at the food bank in the parking lot May 27 and June 17
  • A new photocopier in Trinity office is less expensive and does all that is needed.
  • A financial statement will be in the annual report.
  • There will be an Affirming Ministry vote at the AGM on May 31
  • Governance is asking that Doers meet a little more often than every other month.
  • Governance recognizes that during the week many people are in our building and are possible resources that Trinity can tap into such as Astro Tots day care, Wooden Cross Korean Church.

Stewardship: Joy Galea

  • May is Pre Authorized Remittance month. Joy reminds us to help others know what PAR is and why we have it.
  • “We Live in Abundance” a piece of music that a few learned while at a gospel signing workshop with Marcus Mosley wraps up what Joy wanted to pinpoint here in North America.

General Items:

Peggy:

  • Maintenance on stove done again.
  • Locks on garbage cage changed (new keys available)

Syd:

  • Our pest advisor, James, has added an ant poison to the black box traps for mice. The pest problem is much less currently (normal with the warmer weather).
  • Outside lights have been looked at by Sean of Northside Electrical Services. Sean will replace the lights on either side of the large cross on the building facing Shaughnessy. Most of the photocells that control the lights coming on and going off on the outside building and parking lot are not working. The pole lights are a mystery. Sean is working on where the power should be coming from then will problem solve how to get our parking lot in light again. He suggests another half day to diagnose and plan.
